Healing Springs Suris started in February 2015 and is located in eastern Oklahoma, 30 miles west of Fayetteville, Arkansas, on 76 acres along the Baron Fork River. I have a high-stress job and I had been looking for something that was laid back, comforting and enjoyable when I get home from work and that would keep me active. I have always been interested in fiber and arts but did not want sheep or goats. I loved Alpacas but had no idea there were 2 breeds as I had only seen the “fluffy” ones. When I started looking at alpaca fiber and ALL the benefits I discovered the Suri alpaca and fell in love. I come from a background of showing Afghan hounds and Arabian horses so they fit right in.
I was so fortunate to run into a young lady who has been in the alpaca and llama world for many years and she gave and still gives me an education in Alpacas and fiber 101! My husband Scott does most of the day to daycare and most of the birthing. He loves the Alpacas and makes everything run smoothly!
We are now home to some amazing world-class Suri Alpacas of all colors and patterns. We have numerous Futurity and color champions and producers of champions in both the show ring and fiber world. We are also home to the first ET Alpacas for the USA!!
There is nothing more satisfying than looking at the cria pronking in the evening and knowing you had a hand in that. Using science, genetics, biopsies and good mentorship to make good breeding decisions and watch them mature into their full potential is one of the most satisfying experiences I have had. Along the way, we have been blessed with tremendous mentorship from a variety of suri breeders and made some wonderful lifelong friendships.
