Big Timber Alpacas resides among the tall firs on Parrett Mountain, 25 miles southwest of Portland, Oregon. We are a sustainable suri and huacaya alpaca farm whose breeding program focuses on proven elite white and color genetics to produce Champion alpaca seed stock bloodlines. With over 10 years in the business, we enjoy working with both established and new breeders to advance the alpaca industry.

Our mission is to produce the highest quality alpaca seed stock: conformationally correct and healthy; uniform, dense and finely fibered, good-natured alpacas. Our stud females are easy birthers with great mothering skills and our stud males are strong framed and prepotent.

We are proud that 100% of our white foundation herd have Top 1%- 5% rankings in the 2019 EPDs. In addition, almost 80% of our color herd including blacks and browns have at least Top 25% 2019 EPD rankings.

We believe in using state of the art quantitative data tools, such as histograms, EPDs and skin biopsies, to measure the success of our breeding program and improve our seed stock with every generation.

We utilize the Suri Network S.H.I.P program to independently evaluate our Suri alpacas by outside experts. We measure fineness and uniformity annually on every animal in our herd. Data-driven breeding decisions ensure quality results and drive our breeding program advancements.

Big Timber’s seed stock alpacas successfully compete in both national and regional halter and fleece competitions winning Championships, Judges Choice awards, Breeder Cup awards, as well as "Advanced Fleece" awards.

In addition to selling seed stock alpacas, we have a wide array of alpaca fiber and fiber products for sale such as 100% alpaca sport weight yarn, rug yarns, roving, and raw fiber. Our alpaca products include wonderfully soft alpaca blankets, rugs, scarves, hats, gloves, and toys. We sell our products at numerous fiber festivals, and we are a juried vendor selling at the annual Red Sled Market store in Sherwood, Oregon,& open annually from October to Christmas.
