Meet the Alpacas at the Maryland Alpaca and Fleece Festival
West Friendship, MD — Just in time for the holidays, the Maryland Alpaca Breeders Association’s Alpaca and Fleece Festival returns to Howard County. Alpacas from across the state will converge at the Howard County Fairgrounds on November 9 and 10 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.
There is something for everybody at the Alpaca and Fleece Festival, from fiber art to unique shopping opportunities to meeting alpacas and those who raise them.
Vendors will offer unique yarns and fibers from alpaca, wool, mohair and angora rabbit as well as all blends in between. One of a kind project supplies and handmade items perfect for holiday gift-giving sets this shopping opportunity apart from any other.
In the anticipated Youth Performance Show, participants will take to the ring to compete in showmanship and obstacle classes on Saturday, November 9 beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Next, the youth will strut their stuff with their costumed alpacas for the Camelids in Costume parade about noon on Saturday and Sunday. Costumes will be judged on creativity and the comfort of the animal with foreign objects on their head, legs and feet.
