National Make-A-Will Month

August is National Make-A-Will Month and Alpaca Owners Association (AOA) wants to encourage you to either write your will or update it.

Three reasons to ensure that you have a will:

  1. It’s an important legal document that everyone should have.
  2. It provides peace of mind to you and your family.
  3. It lets you create a legacy that lasts beyond your lifetime.

We often receive calls from families seeking help with alpacas after a member’s passing. To assist your family, you can take these steps:

  1. Add a person or agent to your account to manage your herd and make decisions in the event of your passing.
  2. Designate someone in your will to manage or disburse the alpacas in your AOA account(s).

These actions ensure your alpacas will receive care according to your wishes.

Additionally, we have members who want to leave a positive impact on the industry they love and the easiest way to do that is through their will.

This is called a Planned Gift.

Planned gifts, including gifts from your will or estate, are gifts that anyone can make that may benefit you, your family, and the National Alpaca Foundation (NAF) today or in the future. Your attorney or financial advisor can best assist you in setting up the right vehicle for your situation.

Make-A-Will Month is a golden opportunity to consider the lasting impact you can have through a bequest to NAF. By writing your last will and testament and including a charitable bequest, you can continue supporting the causes you care about long after you're gone. Your bequest will help us further our mission of creating a sustainable alpaca industry and create a better world for the animals you love so dearly.
