On behalf of the AOA Board of Directors and staff, we hope your year has been filled with amazing alpaca experiences and that 2023 will be your best year yet.
Coming to the close of a year always begs the opportunity to review all we’ve accomplished together. AOA relies on so many people, who step up and serve in many ways. Whether on the Board, on a committee, as a volunteer at the shows, serving on a task force, helping to keep your affiliate running, or mentoring a new owner, we are so honored to have you as members.
Let’s celebrate some of what your organization has done this year.
- Offered 22 online educational sessions and one holiday happy hour!
- Implemented and awarded high point alpacas and farms, based on their show record for the first time in AOA history.
- Established a youth committee and youth mentor farm program to help young people connect with alpacas.
- Established a marketing committee to help members succeed, grow the industry, and promote end products.
- Shared weekly updates straight from the Board, committees, and staff to keep you in the loop.
- Offered three tracks of education at the AOA National Education & Fiber Conference in conjunction with the National Fleece Show — Business, Fiber, and Health & Wellness.
- Gave you a Gift Guide tutorial and template to promote Small Business Saturday and the Holiday Season.
- Challenged you to post on social media every day in October for #alpactober. This resulted in big increases in followers and interest in farm tours and products for those who participated.
- And there’s so much more.
Ultimately, our focus is you and your success with your alpacas. We do this by:
- Contributing to the advancement of the U.S. alpaca herd.
- Elevating the value of AOA services.
- Promoting industry growth/alpaca ownership.
- Maintaining and improving a sustainable mission-consistent funding strategy.
