2022 AOA Election Announcement

The 2022 Election Committee: John Dana (3D's Alpacas), Chair; Jason Brehm (Rogue Suri Alpacas); Julie Butler (Morning Beckons Farm LLC); Barbara Coleman (Wings and A Prayer Alpacas); Hillary Devin (Shambalah Alpaca Ranch); Brian Smith (Plum Creek Alpacas); Barbara M Sodums (Shepherds Creek Alpacas), and Cory Wesson (Sopris Alpaca Farm) have selected six candidates for the three open positions.

The terms expiring this year are Wendy Dittbrenner, Rhonda Deschner, and Jeff Williamson.

The Election Committee is proud to announce the following candidates for the 2022 Board of Directors election ballot:

  • Rhonda Deschner — Tierra Prometida Alpacas (TX)
  • Brian Houchin — Houchin Family Alpacas (IL)
  • Mary Miller — Aspen Alpaca Company (ID)
  • Bob Pulse — Pulse Ranches Texas (TX)
  • Leslie Rebtoy — Healing Springs Suris (OK)
  • Elizabeth Taylor — Spottedcircus Alpacas (IN)

Meet your Candidates on two upcoming video calls. This is your chance to ask the questions that are important to you!

Join Leslie Rebtoy, Bob Pulse, and Mary Miller on Tuesday, May 3, at 7:00 p.m central time.

Rhonda Deschner, Brian Houchin, and Elizabeth Taylor will join us on May 4 at 12:30 p.m. central time.

Election Schedule

  • May 3: Last day to become a paid member to vote in the upcoming election
  • May 3: Meet the Board Candidates, Part One with Leslie Rebtoy, Bob Pulse, and Mary Miller
  • May 4: Meet the Board Candidates, Part Two with Rhonda Deschner, Brian Houchin, and Elizabeth Taylor
  • May 5: Online voting opens
  • May 26: Online voting closes
  • July 16: 2022–23 Board of Directors and new officers introduced at the AOA Annual Meeting during the AOA National Education and Fiber Conference in Burlington, Kentucky.

Voting in the Election

To vote in the upcoming election: you must be a paid member (Primary, Business, Corporate), at least 18 years old, and own at least 25% of a live AOA-registered alpaca. If you haven't renewed your membership yet, login and renew from your member dashboard. As a reminder, individuals, not farms, are AOA members. Spouses or partners must have their own memberships to be eligible to vote in the election.
